fuel coming out wrong hose at fuel pump. Broken FPR?

Post by luckyirish7 »

I replaced my fuel pump and accidentally switched the lines. Now the cars starts right but I think I may have ruined my fuel pressure regulator. I got the car to start and run after putting the lines on right. However, now there is fuel gushing out the wrong hose. It just fills up the top of my fuel filter and drips down the car to the floor. I placed the return hose into a fuel can and got a gallon of fuel. I figured there would be fuel in the line but already a gallon? I am think I broke something when I switched the lines? Is it possible to have more than one gallon in the llines? Or is it very probable I ruined my fuel pressure regulator? Thanks for your helps. Here is the LONG link of what I have done if you need more information https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forums ... =1&t=34972
and I have attached a picture with some labels showing: circled in red the fuel line to the fuel filter and circled in blue the return line. The BLUE line is where the fuel is coming back and already over a gallon has come through. It just shoots out when the fuel pump turns on.

Yeah, it sounds like the FPR is done. What is the fuel pressure at the fuel rail?

ok so this was a simple fix. I bought the FPR and that was not the problem. I know have one if anyone wants a used one. The problem was on the fuel pump. The little plastic tip inside the fuel pump, the orange piece, was plugged and not letting fuel in. I replaced the cap and perfect!
