+2 on paint or spraying the. I put mines on without paint only to remove them a week later. I had to buff down the rust and paint the sucker. It still looks mint 1 month later.
Life would be enjoyable if it wasn't so painful to live.

I didn't have the whirring noise for the first 20,000 miles on mine - it just started recently; mostly on very hot days slowing down from 55+ mph.
The OEM rotors look like crap if you don't paint them after only a few weeks. My Zimmermans came pre-painted (grey) and still look great.

If it's your car and the whirring-growling-whizzing noise is "cool" to you and will remain cool when people ride with you then do it.
If it's your wife's car STOP! Get regular rotors.

Would any spray paint (i.e., krylon) do that sticks on steel?Red-Arrow wrote:+2 on paint or spraying the. I put mines on without paint only to remove them a week later. I had to buff down the rust and paint the sucker. It still looks mint 1 month later.

Neither. Stock blank rotors will stop you faster. And will be less prone to warping, as they can store more heat, which is the purpose of a brake rotor.
Slotted rotors, maybe not as bad, but you won't notice the difference anyway. Drilled or slotted rotors will look cheesy on this car anyway, everyone knows Volvos didn't come with them as OEM to begin with.

It was Kyrlon from Home Depo and its also sold in Walmart. As long as you scrap off the rust with a wire brush it will stick. Honestly I noticed all the new Mercs have the rotors painted as well.milesursogood wrote: Would any spray paint (i.e., krylon) do that sticks on steel?

Which surfaces do you paint: both inside & outside surfaces that mate w/ the hub & inside of the wheels? or including the inside/outside cylindrical surfaces?
