Having banged my head against the wall with the bloomin ETM, I took the plunge...and order one from XeMODeX in Canada.
The part came ! No problems there. Very fast service indeed.
Of course the Queen wanted some money aswell when it landed in Englandshire, so I had to give the UPS man some folding stuff for Her Majesty's pot...and as she owns Canada to, she's on a double earn with these ETM replacements ! But that's another story !
The ETM looks great. Well, looks clean and just like the old one !
But as everyone...apart from Vovo Cars know, it's the tecno stuff that's rubbish, not the "housing".
So, as Xemodex say, no limping to Volvo to be robbed as they "programme" the part, that should never have failed in the first place (.....but that again, is another story) it's just "plug n play".
So.... plugged in, attatched the bits of car back together again...and fired her up.
Well, not quite.
Its a "non starter". And this is where I need some help !
I got the ETM on, Put back the fan, the relevant hoses, re attached the battery...and as I tried to start her up, it "seems" like no fuel is going through.
I say that as after turning the engine over several times, there doesn't appear to be any petrol smell.
disconnected the battery, and then reconnected it, locked and unlocked the car via the remote five times....and tried again. Still just turning over.
Locked and unlocked the car via the key five times (probably 7 times in frustration) and tried it again. And again, nada. Just turning over.
So, before I start to take it apart again, can anyone help !
The facts....
Checked all the connections on the fan, all seem ok.
Have set and reset the immobiliser...and got no joy.
The car is parked on a drive way, which is on an incline. So the nose of the car is facing down hill.
The battery seems ok...and have had it attached to another vehicle to try to get it satrted...but just turns over and doesn't start.
Any and all help greatly received as the rather large garden ornament now parked on the driveway, is hindering me from getting my 8 bins out on the relevant days !
David
New ETM from XeMODeX fitted...but now !

It is the "off the shelf" one from XeMODeX (with preloaded software). You "exchange" your ETM for their ETM.

Any ideas guys ?
I think that the ECU is not recognizing the "new ETM", you probably have to go to the dealer to download software.
I believe that the way is supposed to work is , you send your own failed ETM to Xemodex for them to upgrade the electronics, and then you reinstall it in your car. No problems since the ECM recognizes the original ETM, car idles smoothly.
When you use a different ETM, the car won't start, it doesn't recognize the ETM

That's not truejda2000 wrote:.

A car will usually still start with a new, not "mated" ETM.
It doesn't always run properly but it still starts

Add more gas in the tank. Double check your connections are tight. Disconnect and reconnect.
