P0171 O2 Bank 1

Post by thewhitegorilla »

I have a 2006 V50 with 87,000 miles. So far been a great little car. I went ahead and had the timing belt service performed while I have the bucks. After about 1,000 miles, had the check engine light come on with error code P0171 systeam lean. Took to the dealer, who said was getting low voltage readings and error codes at seveal locations... showed me the print out and I watched diagnostics. Recommended battery replacement. No big deal since battery was 5+ years old. Drove for about 60 miles and had lunch. Started car and check engine light came back on. Drove back to dealer and had the oil separator unit, flame box whatever replaced... and software updated and everything calibrated free of charge due to extended warranty . Drove for 2 days now check engine light came back. Again P0171 code O2 sensor bank 1. What else could this be? Wife says vacuum leak (PCV system), or fuel filter... not so sure about that. And where is the O2 sensor located? I would like to take it out and clean it... if this is the problem I will replace with a new one but I hate to spend the money and it not be the problem.

It's the O2 sensor behind the engine about 8-12 inches down the exhaust. They last 80-100K miles so it's likely it. Unfortunately they can't be cleaned and have to be replaced. Check this link out it should help..... https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forums ... hp?id=6419
