Thanks, in advance, for the support.
I own a 1991 240, and I'm having trouble with the speakers, and I'm not certain the cause. I have no sound coming from the rear speakers and only the faintest sounds coming from the front. Based on reading the other postings on this topic (specifically: https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forums ... =2&t=23121), it seems as though I have an amplifier problem. Of course, my larger problem is that I don't where to proceed from here.
Any chance you can outline how I might verify if my problem is with the amplifier or speakers and then what my next steps should be?

Keith, welcome to MVS !
I guess I need to know what all are you doing ? Are you just replacing the speakers ? Did you just all the sudden lose sound ? What kind of headunit do you have in the car and any aftermarket hooked up such as amps ?

Hi, Phils,
Thanks for the welcome and the quick reply. Simply stated, my goal is to restore sound to the vehicle. Right not I'm trying to determine the reason that I lost sound (breakdown of speakers themselves or another cause).
I'm working with all original equipment, including the factory-issued headunit. I don't think there's been any aftermarket hook ups, but I'm not certain.
I bought the car used about 4.5 years ago, and I don't remember there being any sound from the rear speakers. Over time I lost almost 100 percent sound in the front driver speaker, and recently I lost most of the sound from the front passenger speaker. It seems as though I can fade sound from left to right using the volume dial (though I was under the impression that the 240 volume fade was front/rear, not left/right).
Thanks, again, for your help--that's the Hoosier hospitality I know and love (called Indiana home for most of my childhood...and still every Christmas).

it sounds to me like your headunit is slowly going out on you. Id replace it first and go from there.
