Changing brake pads

Post by sealuva »

Is there a post on how to replace my front pads for my 98 S70. I've never done that before. I figured if I managed to change a radiator I should be able to do this as well. Thanks

Well, compared to changing the radiator, this is really quite an easy job!

This is what I used:

I found that write up a bit confusing. Didn't like the pictures as well. :(

Hmm, that's the best one I've found.

There's some more here without pictures, and another with good pictures that may help you along the way.

Once you get the wheel off, you'll more or less see what you need to do and be able to follow those directions. I had no idea what I was doing the first time either

I found that squeezing the caliper piston in worked much better with my jack pressing the caliper up against the control arm of the car. One pump, and voila! It squeezed easily back in. They also sell piston compressors at auto parts stores for this exact purpose.

After the radiator, this is a piece of cake, just dig in, I always use a big clamp to compress the caliper, but how ever you do it be careful not to tear the rubber boot as it moves in. Good luck, Its also been my experience its better to just get new rotors, rather than having them turned
