C70 center speaker question
I have a 2000 C70 with the 11speaker dynaudio setup. The center speaker on the dash makes a rattling noise as though something in the way it is mounted has loosened up(not a blown speaker noise). I do not know how to remove the speaker to check in out and snug everything up, does anybody know anything about this. Thanks.

Carefully pry up the corners of the speaker cover, it will unsnap
You will then see the speaker, 2 screws and out she comes!
Probably shot, these are very fragile, shallow and fail quite often

Thanks but not quite sure what you meant by "these are very fragile" the screws or the speaker?

Speaker is junk
You may go through 2 or 3 during the car's lifetime.
Sitting up there in the hot sun, the magnets just fall out

That's why the later, "revised" version has a bolt through the magnet.
If you find that is does need replacement, it's PN: 8622157.

I upgraded by purchasing a single speaker from clearance (open box). Check Sonic Electronics and Crutchfield. I found an open box component speaker system with one missing piece. I got an excellent since 6.5" mid range speaker (with a crossover and a separate tweeter).
You could buy a Pioneer or Sony 3/4 way 6.5" speaker pair at Walmart and be *WAY* ahead in quality. If you shop the clearance areas you can sometimes find a single speaker, like I did.

I'm guessing you've never had the center channel out of the dashfazool wrote:I upgraded by purchasing a single speaker from clearance (open box). Check Sonic Electronics and Crutchfield. in one of these older ('98-'00) Volvos equipped with Dolby Surround.
If you're driving a Gen 1, there are severe depth restrictions.
You'll find yourself directly on top of the center vent ducts.
The OEM center is an inverted magnet/voice coil speaker.
Pretty rare speaker with a very shallow backside.
The OEM is virtually the only game in town...
