Hey folks!
Thanks for the great info in the site. Ive been reading for a few weeks my 98 S70 is stalling. Mostly on hills will sputter and stall or just stall. Somethimes runs great it is intermittant. Started when going over train tracks only. Ive replaced the fuel filter and cleaned the throttle body and feel that based on the stalling on hills its the CPS. I have not done the fuel relay yet as I figure Its the CPS and i was just looking to get some concensus that that is the right choice. Also when cleaning the TB I noticed a hose running off the rear of the TB connector piece to the air filter was broken. It looks like it brings ait into the front of the TB from the manifold or something. Kinda runs back across the top of the block toward the oil cap. Anyone know what that is for? Here is a pic. anyway if you can give me a yes or no on trying the CPS before the fuel relay I would apprecaite the input. thansk!
Going to replace Camshaft Position Sensor

Suction tube from the PCV box located under the intake manifold (referred to as oil trap or flame trap). You should repair ASAP as the other end would be blowing out oil fumes . It comes from a hard plastic line that has a second 90 degree rubber elbow that attached to the top of the oil trap.

That intake leak could very well be what's causing it to act crazy as well.

Really you think that could cause it to run that way? Because it seems very specific to being on a large incline or decline.

It's certainly a cheaper start than a cam position sensor.

I vote for the large vacuum leak, considering the hose you've shown.

Hey I'm stuck at work. I called the local stealer (advances auto doesn't carry it) for the rubber elbow at the end of this vaccum line and the dude was asking me if I have an air pump? Anyone know if the non turbo has an air pump? I've never even heard the term in auto repair before. Plus I thought ALL of thes engines were the same if non turbo? Or I can also use the part number off the vaccum hose if someone out there happens to be able to get it. If I don't order it today at work I won't get to order it till next Monday so Im throwing out a prayer... thanks y'all.

All 1998 models have an air pump.
I don't know WHY that matters for the intake tube, though.
