Volvo 242DL '84 jumping the air compressor?

Post by Dome »

Does anyone knows how to jump the compressor on a 1984 Volvo 242DL?

I have taken some photos and posted below to make things easier.
I have seen a compressor jumped during a re charge but I'm not sure where to do it from on my 240 :?:

I believe one needs to bypass low pressure switch which I am thinking is on the receiver drier as photographed?

Thanks.

Photo taken from front of car. This image also shows the high side (small diameter hose) and the low side (large diameter hose) of the compressor on my 242DL as there are so many posts asking for this information. See hoses behind compressor in the picture above.

From some research the pressure switch basically needs to be bypassed. The pressure switch is protecting the system so the refrigerant needs to be filling one the pressure switch wiring is jumpered of bridged. I assume I would just bridge the wires that connect to the pressure switch to run the compressor to pump the refrigerant / oil through.
