850 windshield curve
just wondering if anyone knows why some 850s have curved windshields? if you own one you know what i mean, sometimes the drivers side wiper lifts off the glass and you have to bend the arm to get it to touch the glass. my 95 850 glt estate is like this, i don't mind it i was just couldn't find any info on why some are like this.

It's not a curved windshield, it's a bent wiper arm. That is actually quite common on 850s.

You can either bend the arm or buy another one. Search the forums there are a lot of posts about it.

I had the same problem, i bent the arm slightly and it went back to the streaking again a week later, so i bought a new set of napa "curves" they come with an adapter that adds about 3/4"-1" of height to the wiper, the arm is now pushing more onto the windshield and it's much better.

They changed it on the 1998 models to an arm that doesn't lose tension as much.
There are badly-designed things in just about anything you can buy. Nothing's 100% perfect.

I have the same problem. Someone told me this on my post. I haven't considered doing the below, but I'm fed up w/defective wiper arms
"I haven't bought a new arm, but from what I've read there is a V70 version of the arm that is redesigned and stronger than the original one for the 850's"
Can someone confirm if BOTH pairs of wiper arms from a 1998 V70 fit on a 1995 850GLT sedan??

I don't have a definitive answer to your question, except to agree the wiper arms were redesigned.
But FWIW, I have read postings where people said an x70 arm on an 850 "worked great for me" and others that said "the x70 arm just doesn't mount up right, it doesn't work."

When you say wiper arm do you include the metal part that holds the blades only. Just replaced mine with the ones above but from Costo at about half the price. They were out of the OE length so I grab the next length as I have always done (did forget though) with my other vehicles. An extra 1/2 inch on either end works great! They stay to the curvature of the windshield and do not make noise like some others when the rain is light. First saw this design on my brother's now cousin's 2003 P71 Crown Vic Interceptor purchased with 8 miles on it. They have improve it slightly since then.
Blessings,

No, that is the blade.
Arm = the piece that attaches to the splined shaft of the wiper motor.
Blade = the easily removable piece that holds the rubber "cleaner"
Refill = just the rubber piece, som blades you can replace just the refill as opposed to getting a new blade.
This post is about questions regarding the arm but yeah, you may be able to resolve the problem with a different blade.
