Windshield rubber side weather stip

Post by Xcellr8 »

Florida sun has totally dried out the rubber weather stripping that appears to start in the lower corners of the windshield runs up the sides all the way across the top and then down the rear window. Mine is cracked and pieces are broken out. Is it really all one piece? What is it called? How is it replaced?

Thanks,
Joe

Thanks for the reply, no my question is not about the plastic/metal strips but rather the rubber that appears a part of those strips. I'll try to post photos later today.

Found this thread on the on the Detailing forum,
https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forums ... 29&t=46471

There the rubber strip and the trim are described as two pieces and that the rubber is also two pieces one for the front, and one for the back with the same on each side of the car.

So now my question is when looking at volvo parts websites, what are the rubber weather strip pieces called and/or even better, what part numbers do I need to order. I would need all 4 rubber pieces - both sides front, both sides rear.

Thanks,
Joe

That thread was no help at all
I just removed my roof strip to cut it tonight for Euro rail install and I have no idea what rubber you mean....

Thanks for trying to understand JRL, I really do appreciate your attention and help. I must say though, that I find it amazing that there is a question as to what I am referring to. I'm almost positive that all S60 models have these rubber pieces. Wait for the the photos as my daughter has the car right now. Come back later to see. Thanks again, Joe

As said, I'll be happy to help if I knew which piece you mean.

Here are some photos of the cracked and broken rubber weather stripping. One shows the rubber goes under the winshield trim piece. Another shows the rubber as seen from above the windshield, the last shows the rubber extending down the back window. It appears to be in good shape, but is actually cracked quite a bit.

I'm just trying to figure out what these rubber pieces are called (part numbers would be even better) and how they can be replaced as economically as possible.

Thanks for all you do.

How do you replace them? Priced them at the dealer and they are $176.00 ea. plus labor ti install.
