Smoking 850 T

Post by Tiny Tim 077 »

Hi all

My 850 T smokes and then doesn't. I always thought that it maybe the rings as the mileage sis rather high. Am I correct in saying that if it was the rings the car would smoke all the time?

There are days when a drive e car and there is no smoke but then there are times that it smokes like a chimney. When it smokes it is when I accelerate hard or if I have acceleratored hard and I remove my foot from the accelerator the smoke bellows out the exhaust.

There are times when I let the car idle it will smoke a little. Does any one have an idea if this is the rings or can it be some else. I have been told that it could be the MAF sensor.

Thank you

might be worn turbo oil seals, mine smoked pretty bad before i changed the oil catch box (forgot the actual name of it), replaced it along with all the vacuum lines and all better now.

with the turbo seals, could someone verify my thoughts on this?

Hi there. Thank you for your reply.

I forgot to mention I had the turbo recon'd two years ago. I also do very little km a month. About 50km max. Could this be an issue?

Same problem here. I notice no rhyme or reason to the smoking. Then I often worry it's head gasket going.

In recent history have done PCV job with thorough cleaning of intake and throttle body. Never done turbo seals.

Mine did exactly the same...easiest fix in the world...850 turbo pro suggested...if it were the valve seals...change to 20-50 W oil...I did and no more smoke..no more smoking out the guy behind me at the drive in window at Burger King
