Issue With my 850 :(

So I (earlier in the week) Posted about my oil light coming on when I pushed in the clutch and hit the brakes. I checked the oil, it was low, BUT not at the "Add" line?! Bur regardless, I changed the oil and filter and had no real issues. UNTIL TOday. My wife took the car to work and she works about 20 minutes away and she claimed the oil light came on again and the car died (luckily in the parking lot, she was just parked kinda funny, lol) so I went to investigate, checked the oil, it was fine so I backed the car into a parking spot, there was no puddles under the car? and there were no check engine lights, nothing?! when I drive the car 10 minutes, no problem, more than that, there seems to be this re-occurring issue. It has been VERY hot here in Cedar Rapids, IA so the cars being drivin with the AC on high and recently I noticed the lights on the "aut" and recycle air button blink when I turn on the AC. It couldn't be my AC could it? It still blows ice cold. Also the temp of the car isn't overheating at all, stays right in the middle on the dash. I am confused. The car isn't acting strange aside from this?! I am confused, please help. It's a 95 850 GLT (non turbo) Thank in advance!

Blinking A/C REC lights indicate a fault with the climate control, on your 95 you can used the OBDI connector under the hood by the washer fluid filler to find the DTC's. Likely either a sticking rec door or a cabin temp sensor - could also be a blower too if it squeeks or buzzes.

What weight of oil and brand of filter did you use?

If my memory is right, my 97 had the intermittent "Low Oil" light problem...and it seems like a sensor was replaced...but I can plow back through the repair records and see for sure if no one else chimes in...I do recall that there was not a low oil problem during this, however.

It may be LOW OIL PRESSURE light which you would want to get fixed ASAP. Start by using an OEM or Mann oil filter. Then find a few threads that talk about the oil pick up gasket inside the pan or something like that. I've read it time and time again here.

I am using an Oem filter. The issue originally happened before this oil change. It seems to only be happening when I drive the car over 20 minutes. The car acts totally normal during my small commutes to and from work. Frustrated!

So I had a leak from my oil pan plug and replaced the washer. I also am going to replace the one I. The fill cap. Would either of those give me a random low oil pressure light? I also put about half a can of seafoam in the crankcase and drove to and from work (5 miles) then added the rest and let her run for about ten minutes. Drained the 10w30 and replaced the filter and filled with 10w40. S far so good, but I haven't done over 15 miles, lol. I figuredmid try the easy fixes first before tearing into it. *fingers crossed

I would guess the pres. drops after its been running, as the oil gets hot and thins out. None of those gaskets would affect oil pres. You either have a bad low oil pres. sensor, a leak in the oil pickup line in the pan or your engine has a bad bearing, somewhere. If the car is running fine, and it looks like its well cared for, I would really think its just a bad sensor. These engines really do go forever if they are cared for. Check your oil pres. by installing a pres. guage somewhere. If you have good pres, and when warm, then its the sensor. Have you ever had to replace the oil pan. If these ever get hit underneath, the oil pan is really easy to crack and sometimes the oil pickup tube will get pushed back somewhat and cause the o ring seal to suck air, as it is above the oil level in the pan. This can be bad as even with lower oil pres the oil cavitates and the bubbles in the oil lower the lubrication of the oil. I really bet its a bad switch though. good luck

Oil is not suppose to "thin out". That's why it's multi-velocity.

The oil pressure switch on my 94 940 goes bad every 30k or so. Acts just like your saying yours does. Mine was only $14 so I just thru one at it and it works every time.
