can a s80 timing be set with out the cam lock tool

i replace a head gasket on my s80 but cant seem to get the timing marks to line up

At any point in the process, did you remove either one of the cam sprockets from its cam shaft? If not, you should be able to re-align the marks on each cam and the crankshaft.

If you use the diagrams attached you should be OK.

There should be a mark on the cam sprockets which line up at 12 o clock.

Make sure the crank mark is set.

i did a head gasket replacement,both cam sproket was remove ,,i have been doing a lot of reading on this but its still beating me i think i kinda need some step by step instruction i tried making a cam lock tool but i am not sure where the the cams supose to be aling,i am determine to do this project on my own ,with all the help i can get from this site which seem to be the best volvo site

i have al the marks lined tried starting engine turn over but still no start ,i am still at a stand still...lol
