Hi all,
I took the car to dealership for timing and serpentine belt replacement. Head mechanic then took the car for a brief drive around the block. Said everything is in good condition but suggested I consider replacing the thermostat. He said the car is running warmer than usual.
Incidentally, I flushed the coolant about a month ago (followed the various tips mentioned in this website) and replaced with Volvo Type C coolant and made sure mixture is 50/50.
Since then, the temp needle of the gauge goes up and stays at a position slightly above 3 o'clock (something like 2:50 to 2:55 clock position). Is this normal? Or is the mechanic correct that I should have the t-stat changed?
I don't exactly recall the position of the needle prior to replacing coolant but it was hardly ever lower than a 3 o'clock position. The car is a turbo and running 5W-30 Mobil 1, btw.
Thanks again for any tips,
Geevs
