I need some advise plz

My 98 V70 has that self leveling rear suspension. I don't really know anything about it, but when I look for suspension parts the majority of them say not for use with the self leveling suspension. Whats the deal with this rear suspension? Should I keep it or ditch it and go with aftermarket suspension? My overall goal is to get a well handling car with decent ride quality. I also wouldn't mind lowering the car just a slight bit. I don't want it dragging on the ground or anything, I just want it to have a slightly lower stance.

Any advise would be helpful. Thanks

Is it an XC or AWD V70? Otherwise, you don't have it.

There aren't aftermarket replacements for the Nivomats. The suspension geometry is different in the rear on these models.

It is an AWD V70. I'm sure that it does have it as the original dealer window sticker is still in the owners manual booklet and it is listed as a feature on this car. Well seeing as how I can't remove it what sort of maintnance is needed on that suspension if any?

Climb on the rear of the car and jump off or push down firmly with your foot and let go. The rear should spring back up - once. It should also ride at a similar height if there's a lot of stuff in the back - the shocks will pump themselves up as you go down the road.

If it feels floaty or bounces around too much, the shocks need to be replaced.

Not much you can do about lowering this car in the rear, however.

The front end is exactly the same as all the other FWD cars, use what you want up front.
