2001 S40...what tranny fluid

I hear so many opinions. I have a 2001 S40 with 100+K miles on it. I want to 'drain and fill'. What fluid do I use? It is an automatic, NOT manual.

SO...you like the Swepco product for a direct replacement for the original Volvo tranny fluid? Which weight...10 or20w?
Is it compatable with what is in the box now? Since it is a 'drain and fill', I will be mixing the products until a few fills.

I've used Swepco for over a dozen years now both the 714 20W and 306 15W-40 motor oil. Unless the winters are extreme then the 5W-30.

Independent uses Swepco. It is where I am picking up my ones and twos as it is sold by the case through my Local Rep.

It is compatible but being most people are afraid to do a DIY Flush I recommend you do a drain and fill and let it run a couple hundred miles and then a Flush for peace of mind.

Your 2001 uses JWS3309/Volvo 1161540/Toyota T-IV since it is the AW55-50 5 speed transmission. Look in the owner's guide and it will show you the correct fluid.
2000 was the last year for the 4 speed unit that uses Dexron/Mercon fluid in the S40/V40 models.
