Actually not true, some were actually made by Mitsubishi and some by Alpine (and a couple by a little known company which would surprise you...just can't recall who it is off the top of my head) ...I used to have a file with all of the makers listed. I looked for it but couldn't find it. When I do I'll post it.

Edit: Actually, I posted that link here some time ago...found the thread today. However, the link is now dead  Really wish I had copied off all the information it provided. The manufacturers that would surprise you were Daewoo and AC Delco...they made a few of the Volvo radios...unbelievable.

Anthony is the man. I have been trying to find these little lights for 3 days. Volvo dealership offers no help, I couldn't believe it.

I actually have the 815 radio, do you think it makes a difference? Would the little light bulbs be the same?

Thank you guys for the helpful info, what a great sight.

Should be the same...if not, after you get the lid off, things should be self explanatory. Good luck!

This was a great document. Easy to install in about 20 minutes just like he described. Only thing I would add was the toughest part was re-inserting the ribbon cable. Just take your time.

www.TheHondaPartsStore.com
sells these for $1.19 each

35505-S84-N01 BULB, NEO-WEDGE (T3) 6 $1.19 $7.14
Subtotal $7.14
Handling Charge $4.95

Great deal.
I donated $5 to the website for such well documented valuable assistance. Hope someone can enjoy a nice coffee on me!

Thanks for the link to the Honda parts store. I just ordered 6 bulbs myself. Although not all are burned out, I figure I should go ahead and replace them all if I have it opened up, as most likely those that are still good now are not far behind.

Yeah, I know it's 5. I got an extra incase one is burned out or I mess one up. Also, having one left isn't a bad thing. I understand that many of the other dash lights use the same bulb as well!

I have a '99 xc. I changed all five bulbs on the radio but the display still won't light up. The radio buttons now look great (thanks for the terrific instructions on changing them), but not being able to see the display is driving me nuts. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Don't know what lights up that display. One solution would be one of those flexible lights you stick in your cig lighter socket. Since the socket is just below the radio, I think that would work perfectly.

Thanks for all of the tips. I got my bulbs replaced tonight too (between Colt's plays!). Now everything lights up! yeah!!

A couple of things threw me. The 4 metal tabs didn't make sense in the description above until I encountered them. I am addind a picture to show you what they are. Just used needle nose pliars to straighten them all and the face plate came out fine. Here is one of them cirlced below.

The other thing that threw me were 2 cables connected to the SC-816 that don't come off of the unit. They go into the head unit from the rear and are screwed in and don't have a connector to take off. I don't know what this means (if someone does, please let me know...is it the antenna connection?) so I ended up having to do everything in the car where it is hard to see due to this (well, except taking the blue covers off of the bulbs). Here is a picture...the wires are circled.
