Powerbox S70/V70 TDI, should i do it or shouldn't i?

How to go faster, stop quicker, and turn harder. Chips, exhaust, larger turbos, bigger/slotted/drilled rotors, high performance brake pads, manual boost controllers, performance shocks/struts/springs, airbox mods and more! Also discussion on HID and Xenon lights, aftermarket foglights and other exterior lighting.

Powerbox S70/V70 TDI, should i do it or shouldn't i?

Post by onnaj »

I bought a powerbox from hopa-tec.de

The box is 4 years old and costet about 650 euro, i bought it for only 100 euro.

My TDI has driven abt 350.000km yet but is in perfect condition. Should i use this powerbox? The gains should be around 30hp and 40-50Nm.

This powerbox comes between the fuel pump and one cable has to be put in the lmm cable. (the brwon/white cable).

Who has experiences with powerboxes?

Well i don't think your going to find many people with experience because no diesels were ever sold here :(

Just wondering, what is your economy with the diesel?

My economy is between 14 and 15 km with one litre (not gallon :P)

With the powerbox the economy was more between 13,5 and 14km a litre.

Now i chiptuned the car (by RICA engineering) and have an economy which is almost the same as with the powerbox, but the powercurve is more stable. Chiptuning for me was much better then just a powerbox. It's amazing that with my diesel engine i can almots keep up with a Volvo S70 T5, but after i think 160 km/h a T5 is faster.

My top speed now is about 208 km/h, before 204 km/h. This was tested in Germany were we are allowed to drive so fast. :D

That is over 35 miles to a gallon to save those who are going to do the math.
