Hey TED, Got more 850 center console advice?

Help, Advice and DIY Tutorials on Volvo's P80 platform cars -- Volvo's 1990s "bread and butter" cars -- powered by the ubiquitous and durable Volvo inline 5-cylinder engine.

Sorry I don't know who Ted is but, reading his 'fix', I would think that he had a problem with the two rear switches but he replaced the whole unit as it comes in one piece. This is borne out by the time it took him to do it.

You might be able to get a "used" or partially working center console switch from the junkyards or someone that's parting out a car and then use the "good" switches from it.

It seems like the rear switches are the ones that are more prone to fail over time. Of course, it doesn't help that Volvo positioned the cup holder right over the switches.

It's definitely a lot cheaper than the $150 it costs to buy a whole new center console switch unit.
