Help, Advice and DIY Tutorials on Volvo's P80 platform cars -- Volvo's 1990s "bread and butter" cars -- powered by the ubiquitous and durable Volvo inline 5-cylinder engine.
Thanks rspi! I've viewed a few of your clips and like them very much. Informative without being overly technical. I appreciate you bringing these to my attention. I've searched all sides of the radio and the opening looking for a code without any luck, but didn't think to look in a couple of other areas. I'm pretty confident now that JRL will be able to obtain the code for me but if not then I'll just head to a dealership that's more than two hours away. Either way at least I now exactly what to do once I get the code!
Thanks again

If the radio is original
Remember you need to get it back to read CODE not OFF and only enter the code ONE TIME, it will work or it won't.
Do not enter it again

Not at all
One has nothing to do with the other.
I gave my guy all the info so he might have looked it up using the radio serial number to make sure.
Don't know.
Enter it ONCE and count to three, if it doesn't start up get back to me and we'll get it the harder way.
Remember the radio has to say CODE not OFF

I will make sure to let you know one way or the other if it works or not. I'll work on getting the radio reset back to CODE when my girlfriend gets home tonight. I don't think I have a battery with enough power to put in the other car to get it done

I have allowed the car to run a total of about two and a half hours with the radio turned on and it is still displaying OFF. I'll leave it in the car for a day or two to see if it resets. Does it need to be on for two continuous, uninterrupted hours? If so, would it be bad if I removed it again and waited until the weekend?

Uninterupted.
However, you may have a bad radio, this works at 2 hours or so all the time if everything is OK
Are you sure it was not turned off, even for a second?

Last night I drove to a store, taking about an hour and twenty minutes. I turned the car off and was in the store for about fifteen minutes. I then drove home, taking about a half an hour, and then let the car run for and additional hour or so. When I was at the store the car was turned off so maybe that's my problem. I hope it isn't dead as it looks so much better then my other one and it worked great just a few weeks ago. I'll pull it back out of the car and try again this weekend when I head to the mountains.

You CAN'T do that!
What does leave it ON for at least 2 hours mean to you?
You must either leave the key (and radio) on or have it running for TWO UNINTERRUPTED HOURS, No turning it off for any reason.
So yes, that is your problem.
There is no other way around this, it must be followed
