Re: SRS Reset procedure

Vol FCR software and the VAG -Com cable will reset the codes - I screwed up and didn't have the steering wheel air bag plugged back in on my son's '96 after an evaporator replacement and it set the code. The software reset it and it hasn't come back.

Hi everyone,

my SRS light recently came on, just out of the blue (not after a repair). I expect the fault to be in the seat belt. I'm going to clean the contacts.

Somewhere here on MVS, someone mentioned in a similar post, that you can just buy a $15 cable and use (hacked?) software to reset the SRS light. Which cable do I need? (I was just looking on ebay, I want to avoid buying one that doesn't actually work. I've got an old laptop with WinXP, USB and parallel printer port) and where do I find the software? Does it need to be hacked? If I remember correctly, the afore mentioned post did mention that it needed to be hacked in order to reset the SRS light.

Cheers, Hans
New to Volvo, already liking it. Hoping to keep it in good shape, not like the previous Benz 190e

Repairs so far: tie rods, outer CV Boot, air control flap, control rod, ABS module, various seals, motor mount

The cable comes with Vol-FCR software. I sell them on eBay (though I don't offer international shipping at the moment due to the high number of units in the USA)

If you have a look at my ad you'll get a better idea of what you need. Go to Australia's eBay site then search for Volvo FCR OBDII serial cable and you should find my ad.

The cracked exe file is suppied on the CD. Just replace the initial exe file with the one in the crack folder.

If you don't have a serial port on your laptop you'll require a USB to serial converter which I also sell.

I just replaced my airbag and need to reset the SRS light to pass inspection. So if I live in the US and I want to get the cable and software, where should I look?

You can get the VOL-FCR software (cracked version) from one of those places that makes you drink rum and say arrrgh.

The cable is a VAG-COM cable. I actually use the USB version since none of the laptops have com ports anymore. You just need to set the USB port so that it emulates COM 1. The cable is real cheap - under $20.00 shipped to your door. Some of the eBay sellers include the software with the cable.

All 98+ cars can't have their SRS module reset with the Vol-FCR software and Vag-Com cable. If it's for your V70 2000 you'll need either a Vida/Dice setup or a Autel EU-702

In '99 the SRS module was released as a more interactive unit which communicates with seats as well as dash/steering wheel airbags
