Lower engine/transmission torque mount.

While I was under my wife's car today, I noticed the lower engine/transmission torque mount had a lot of play in it. I'm curious. What are the symptoms of this part wearing out? I only drive this car a few times a month. I've ordered a new one. What improvements should I expect?

you may want to check the upper torque mount underneath the strut brace. If your bottom one is bad most likely your upper one is also. They keep the motor "in check" if you will underneath the hood. It should feel more solid under acceleration.

If upper&lower mounts are gone you'll hear and feel clanks when transmission shifts.

I just replaced my lower transmission torque mount. It seems to have made the shifts more solid, but it didn't make a heck of a difference. I drive a 2004 XC70, and this is the first time that part has been replaced. The smaller bushing on the torque mount was completely disintegrated. I could turn the metal part that bolts to the bottom of the engine 360 degrees.

On an AWD these are good for 100K miles plus or minus
Also check the lower front mount (right side of car), they also go bad and eventually collapse

Mine were worn out also, however I believe that was caused by missing bolts on the steering rack..

They are super easy to replace, unbolt and reverse to install.

Having this lower torque mount, and the upper as well, not worn out, means less engine movement when it comes on and off load, such as during shifting. That translates to quicker, crisper shifts.

The torque spec for two the 18mm nuts on subframe is two stage.
Is it 65Nm and 60º?
