Drain holes on 850

Post by pogoboy2 »

I just unclogged my trunk lid drain holes on my 850 which should prevent my spare tire area from filling with water. Where are the other drain holes on the 850?

Front cowl (under the windshield, visible under the hood) and the four corners of the sun roof if you have one.

how did you unclog them, I have a drain hole on the right side of my truck that fills up with water, i used a coat hanger that I bent so it wouldn't tear the rubber, but it seems that i can not get that far down to completely unclog it.

any suggestions

If you have access to a compressor, use that to blow thru the drain holes. look for where the "out" is for the drain holes and make sure you get the junk out so they don't plug again.

Sorry, my camera died. If I can snag my wife's I'll try to take a shot.

If you open up your truck lid, look at the far top left and right corner areas that are normally covered when the trunk is closed. There should be a small 1/4" hole at each corner.

When you take out your trunk liner on the left and right sides, you can trace the plastic hose on each side that leads from the drain hole down to the trunk well drain and out of your car.

While camping two days ago I found a very good tool for cleaning the trunk drains: 36-Inch Heavy Duty Cable Ties. I haven't tried it on the other drains.

That's a $20 50-pack. Maybe not the best cost/benefit ratio for the occasional unclogging session, but if you need these for other things, they're outstanding, and very very strong. Monsters.

Far better than coat hangers, and each side took perhaps 10 seconds. They're long enough to get all the way through the drain tubes. I watched the water disappear down the drains after a few pokes.

(The water was pooling during a rainy morning, and I had to find something quick. I had a few of these in the car. "Necessity is the mother of invention" ;-).)
