1999 v-70XC heater hose clips and o rings

ive recently purchased a 1999 v70 xc with a heater core problem .... iv replaced the heater core BUT .... having a problem figuring out these clips and o rings .... the previous owner bypassed the heater core by connecting the heater hoses together with 2 hose clamps and a piece of hose to get the car home .... he wrecked the yellow clips and lost the o rings .... i bought an o ring and clip set today ..... problem is i dont know which hose goes in which hole on the firewall nor do i know what O rings go on which hose .... does somebody have some pics they can send or any advise to offer ????
any help at all is appreciated

I think those hose ends are different sizes. As for the parts order, maybe you can find a video or look at a parts diagram.

hose ends look to be the same size ... clips and o rings are all the same ... not sure
i know that it goes on rubber oring one yellow then the other rubber in front and same on the other hose ... which hose goes where ?

The order, from the hose end outward on the copper pipe, is retainer clip, O-Ring, spacer, O-RIng. The longer hose is the inlet and it is the upper hose. The shorter hose is the outlet hose and it goes on the bottom. Start with the bottom hose first.

i think i got it fingered ... the collar on the metal end of the lower hose is shorter than the collar on the upper hose .... got it .... everything fits, just kind of a B@#%^ to get into place .... now to check for leaks ... lol ... wish me luck .... did the thermostat too

I agree. I took the thicker retainer clip off of new hoses I bought for my 850 in order to get them to sit in nicely. and no leaks.

all good ... no leaks .... BUT .... Now seems i have an airlock.
anytips oh how to get rid of the airlock?

The older models, 98 and earlier hardly ever (as in never but I hate to say never) air lock due to the line from the thermostat cap to the overflow tank. I didn't have any trouble with my '99 either when I did the engine swap nor when I replaced the radiator but the overflow feed on the radiator itself might make it more prone to air locking. One or two heat and cool cycles should purge things, just don't let it overheat in the process. All of mine seem to take another quart or so of coolant after the initial fill up but it stabilizes after the first day.

ive let this car run for hours on the driveway .... taken 8 liters of coolant now and still no heat .... messed
