Has anyone discovered how to get the plastic black cover of the Abs pump? Then I can renew the cable's insulation all the way.
I have been fortunate enough to not have that problem (yet). Check with member Matty Moo, he has seen it all and if there is a fix he knows the best way to go about it.

Hopefully he sees this and comments back, you aren't the first one to have the problem.

There are two tabs that hold that cover on, pry on the cover with a screwdriver, you'll then see where the two tabs are then pull it off. Then re-wrap each wire individually with rubber tape.

So I know this was from 2008, but a Chapman set made it really easy for me to remove the module.

here's what I ordered McMasterCarr:

92290A188 Metric 316 Stainless Steel Socket Head Cap Screw, M4 Thread, 50mm Length, .7mm Pitch, packs of 10

92153A418 Metric Type 316 Stainless Steel Split Lock Washer, M4 Screw Size, 7.6mm OD, 0.8mm min Thick, packs of 100

I will probably never use the 6 extra I have, email me off line, if you like, I can mail 4 screws to you, if you paypal the shipping, I would put them in a flat rate priority envelope.

Is this thread available in BOOK format? Really, 32 pages and 447 post (make that 448)? I heard about someone opening a can of worms but wow! I think Lee has set a record here. I'll go by the trophy store and see if they have a S70 topper and try to get an award built. :p

yeah, it's quite a old comment but mdempst_79 didn't posted his codes so I will share mine :D
4-4-4 - No Supply To Hydraulic Unit Valves
3-1-2 - Right Front Wheel Sensor, Open Or Short Circuit
3-1-3 - Left Rear Wheel Sensor, Open Or Short Circuit
and 1-2-2 - Right Front Wheel Sensor, Circuit Fault At Speeds Less Than 25 MPH

symptoms? the hydraulic pump turns on randomly, in most cases I'm not even touching the brake pedal.
when it activates during braking it brakes like it during skidding

Could you give me some hints/ideas, where i can start  ?

thank

Step one is to clear all of the codes and see which ones come back. The modulator pump is obviously getting power or it wouldn't activate as you describe with your the symptoms.

Clean all of the wheel sensors and the reluctance rings on the axles (front) and hubs (rear). The rears are a bit tougher since the rotor needs to come off and you will need to adjust the parking brake both while removing the hub and after you put it back on.

Other than that, check all of the connectors and inspect the wires from the wheel sensors.
