2000 volvo s70 aacv torx star size?

Post by fars70 »

Hello,

I am trying to replace the air assisted control valve and/or clean it but the torx is not standard. It is between a t15 and t20,but I can't find anything in between at my local hardware store. Thanks. There looks top be two screws to remove it. And how do do you clean it, just with air throttle cleaner and a toothbrush?

Can you shed some light on what this AACV is? That's not a common abbreviation or part name around here. Idle air control valve perhaps?

Perhaps I'm drawing a blank. :)

Me too. No IAC valve on a 2000 with ME7 though.

You're talking about the Idle Control Valve. Photo from FCP below. Other than standard cleaning I'm not certain how it comes apart.

Oh. I meant unscrewing it from the hose looks like it requires a 5 lobed torx, T17? But I can't find anything with a T17 sized head.

In that link the poster refers to security torx...5 lobed torx that require you to purchase yet another special tool.

The poster also simply ground a slot into the head to take a standard screwdriver, btw. 10 minutes work with a Dremel.

Thanks. But then I would have to buy a Dremel. I'll see if I can find someone who has one. Otherwise where could you buy such a special tool?

5 sided security torx are usually sold by Snap-On dealers. That's where I bought my Toledo set from for around $20. Call one in your area and they will let you know if they stock one.
