1998 V70 Fires once only on each start, won't keep running
Have replaced fuel pump, filter, injectors, got good fuel pressure at union before injectors. Have replaced crank movement sensor, cam sensor & now computer - but still only gives one fire. It does keep running on aero-start - so something's locking the fuel off. Any thoughts ??

Based on the work that you have done it pretty much must be the injectors. Check the green wires on the injectors for battery voltage. You can also do the feel test on them, if you touch them you should feel a pulse when the injector fires.

Clean the contacts on the immobiliser aerial which you will find located around the ignition barrel, the firing then dying after one second is a classic symptom of this, if you have a code reader scan the car, if its the immob aerial it will have set a code of P1670 but this doesn't put the check engine light on - Mike

That was my first thought but the '98 cars don't have a chipped key, at least the US spec cars didn't.

Thanks guys, yes this one does have the immobiliser ring around ign barrel - I've had it off & cleaned connections, still no go - any suggestions of how to by-pass this ?? - - 4 wires going into it - red is live / also key doesn't have buttons so what activates what ??
I am looking at a wiring diagram and I was wondering if you could tell me the colors of the other three wires?

Unfortunately there isn't a quick bypass method. The immobilizer communicates with the ECU via a digital pulse train rather than a simple closure. On the earlier cars it was easy, just jumper a couple of pins in a relay socket and it was defeated, but our lives are much better now with better digital technology.
