2004 C70 Upper Engine Torque Mount bolt

Post by landl4u2 »

Replaced mount but noticed the horizontal bolt that holds bracket to engine mount with 13mm on left and 15mm on right looks to be way too small for the holes in the bracket and old/new engine torque mount. Looks to be maybe a 10mm bolt and holes look to be approx 1/2 in.

Does this sound correct??? Looks questionable to me. Any response appreciated

Perhaps the bolt is one from the older style mount. I have never had them side by side but I think the older style press in mount used a smaller diameter bolt.

Tkx for the input... I'd better go to Volvo and check out their parts diagrams. Am new to Volvo and excited about my new-to-me 04 convertible.

Is there any online resource for year or model specific diagrams and parts??

My 2000 V70 R had the older style mount that mount with 4 bolts to the top of the cylinder head but has the `round` rubber bush which is less durable than the newer `square` style as used on the 2001- P2 models. I had to modify the mount slightly and the brace to the bulkhead to allow the faces to fit neatly. I also noticed the bolt hole was slightly larger. Checked with our 06 XC70 which uses the square mount, and the bolt diameters are nearly the same. Both are smaller than the hole in the mount. This is the way the dealer had fitted it.

So I wouldn`t worry too much about it. If you want a bolt that fits the hole perfectly, you will have to try your hardware store.

Thanks Scott... I think I'm going to route it out to fit a 1/2in. bolt. Appreciate the feed-back.
