1992 740 Motor Transplant

I have a motor that is giving me a lot of trouble in my 1992 740 non turbo. I found a wrecked 2001 s40 that has a good motor with low miles. does anyone know if the s40 motor will work in the 740?

The only thing that the S40 engine and the 740 engine have in common is that they have 4 cylinders. They aren't even close in terms of mounting and mating with the transmission.

What trouble is the engine in the 740 giving you?
