Re: VIDA and DICE issues

On the basis of the single install I have done (grin), I'm pretty sure you need to have matching firmware in the DiCE to go with the version of VIDA you are running.

I did the firmware refresh away from the car by providing 12V power through the OBD2 connector. It went smoothly.

Get Windows on a bare metal hardware, not VM.

Yeah, your host OS or hypervisor can't do a fully transparent USB bypass to a virtual machine.

I run 2011C on a 32-bit XP SP3. It also worked on a 64-bit Win7, but was crashing too often.
so the fw is OK?
Firmware is ok.

great, thanks! i figured a dedicated machine may always be needed.

just as an fyi, my host machine is a win7 home premium.

another question, memory and cpu requirements? i new at least a couple gigs on memory. any specific cpu specs?

If you laptop is able to run Win7, it's capable of running VIDA. Mine is 4 years old Lenovo IdeaPad y460p (SandyBridge i7-2630QM, 8GB RAM). But you need at least Win7 Professional (or fool VIDA's installer, google around).

be careful about the ebay or aliexpress VIDA unit with only blue indicator flashes, the working DiCE unit is with colorful indicators (illuminates when good communication is built)

AS for the operating system, old VIDA (2012 A-D, 2013 A-D or before) should be installed on win xp or win 7 VMware, 2013A-D, 2014 A-D (current VIDA 2014D) can be loaded ok on Win 7 professional IE8, no win xp

For who meets VIDA NOT OK error, here is the document i googled, not sure if it works

Windows 7 ultimate, 2014D.

Interface test not ok. Exactly same problem like above.

My dice used to work well with VIDA & Vdash for many years. It stop work recently without reason. Both VIDA & Vdash cannot read my 2 Volvo.

I did uninstall& reinstall the dice and update the firmware again, 5.6.2, however, problem persist.

Please advise what I can do further.

if you have $5 to spare, try using one of the w10 VMs at volvodiag.com using either vmware or virtual box.
just remember to forward the dice units usb port to the vm.
