I remember now, the car with low mpg. Can you look at your fuel pressure, and brakes - to make sure no wheel is dragging? How did this low mpg come about, was it sudden or over time? Do you actually divide miles to gallons at fill up, or use car display?

Mileage on T1/gallons at fill up, and then verify result against the average mpg on display - it is within fraction.draser wrote:I remember now, the car with low mpg. Low gas prices, BUT the frequent trip to pump is making me keep track and compare. It runs on premium gas, always has.
The VIDA Vehicle Communication Parameter lists Fuel Tank Pressure at -0.25 at ignition ON. It varies with load and coast, then settles back to -0.25.
I will pick up gauge from auto parts to check fuel pressure at the fuel rail.
Thank you!

I will look closely again over VIDA.
Is there another word for fuel pressure?

VIDA does not show it.
I can not locate fuel pressure sensor either, FPR is at the rail.

It could just be a 2001 V70XC related, and not equipped with this parameter (?).draser wrote:Okay, I thought Vida would show that just like Torque does.
Gauge pick up today, and go over few pertinent how-tos before the task.

After overnight.
Ignition ON. No movement in needle - no pressure at fuel rail?

Hi xHeart!
Did you ever find the problem?
I have 2001 turbo, with intremittent ECM-4801. It seems the fault has been there for years (we got the car only couple of months ago), finding old readings in the car.
I did plug in the smoke machine I have done and found a small air leak somewhere around turbo or exhaust manifold!

I've same ECM-4801, it returns after each erase/reset. VIDA lists 6 possible causes. You may have found the evidence. I'm too leaning to service the rear exhaust-turbo-cat seals after monitoring Lambda (O2S data), and Short-term, and Long-term fuel to help isolate the cause. VIDA shows, the STFT & LTFT are gradually increasing.
VTL's evidence and experience points to exhaust leak, but he also warns of warping of exhaust manifold due to age/mileage.
