Wheel Hub Swap on 850, s70 or v70

Post by tzanis »

I was wondering, how easy or possible of a job would a wheel hub swap be on an 850, s70 or v70.

I know one would also need rotors for the swap, but I was thinking that there is a wider range of rim choice when for example going from 5x108 to 5x114.3.

If anybody has done this, or has any more thoughts about what is needed to be done please post it here.

If my starting this thread is not appropriate or relative, please admins, take it down, no problem :)

You can't just install a wheel hub from other car/make...even if it's from a smaller s,v40 Volvos.

Wheel hubs with 5 bolts are interchangeable across all 850&s,v,c,xc70 models up to 2001.

Could be also with newer models from 2001 but i'm not sure on this.

www.wheelfitment.net will give you an idea about bolt patterns between brands of cars.

Here's a sample link to FAG's catalogue:

I am currently using '04 S60 Wheels with snow tires on my '96 Wagon with no issues.

The AWD are different rotors and rear hubs.

The S/V 40 and 50 models may have a different offset. The 5- lug pattern, I believe is the same.

Picked these up for a good deal. 15" forgot the name, will edit.

Which combination were you looking at?

The hub swap I may do will be on my '93 from 4-lug to 5-lug.
I have a complete rear delta link setup from a '98 S70 and a couple front hub/bearing units.

Could have simply changed the rear hubs, but found a scrap '98. The bushings were all shot in the '93 rear, so this will work great in my situation.

Those were another consideration that I had seen from an S80 on Craigslist.

My initial thought was if anybody has changed hubs that fit the volvos, but with a different pattern e.g. 5x114,3 or 5x120, because these kind of patterns have a way bigger market and a lot more rims are available. A lot of useful info though, and thanks . I love the 17 titans ben850. Thanks for the part regent

More things would be involved to match with "new" hubs. There are axles,cv joints, could be transmission too.All of those parts needs to be matched with "New" hub.

If you really want to go that route, there are wheel spacers on the market with desired bolt pattern but made to fit your original hubs. They can also be custom made.
