1995 850 GLT Drivers Side Seatbelt Replacement

Post by busheygirl »

My driver's side seat belt failed, and I currently have the passengers side seat belt installed as a quick fix, but I will need to find a replacement seat belt soon so all of my passengers don't have to sit in the back. If anyone has any leads on where to find a replacement seat belt (aside from ebay) I'd appreciate a link to a website or some place. I'm okay with a non OEM part or universal fit seat belt as long as it fits and works properly. I'm not interested in drilling new anchor holes, but if it comes to that, I'd do it.

There is actually quite a bit going on with the seat belt since it ties into the SRS. You need to remove a battery cable before you start unplugging things or it will set a SRS error code and disable the system. If the radio is factory you will need to have the radio code to get it working again after the battery gets hooked back up.

Osman has the plan, just grab one at a pick-n-pull but make sure it spools out before you even remove it. They tend to get stuck as they age and the grease on the pawls dries out. I bought a new one for one of the cars but it was painfully expensive as I recall. Any 850 seat belt will work but the 70 series belts are different at the point where they anchor to the seat.

Yes, they are different however I just used a bolt and washer to make an s70 belt fit on an 850 seat or vice versa. I think I was putting S70 seats in an 850.
