You need hose resistant to oil, so go to your FLAPS and ask them to help you out.

There is very little pressure in the hoses and cooler for the transmission. The fluid in this part of the system is on its way back to the sump so it is vented to the atmosphere at the end of the return hose. The only pressure developed is from the resistance to flow caused by the hoses and the cooler. Double clamps on a straight hose will work, although barbed fittings are of course always better. On my car, I pulled the rubber hose off the steel line in the return hose at the radiator to install a Magnefine filter and only used hose clamps. No leaks.

Depends on the radiator, I know the barbs only worked on my Autozone Radiator and won't work with Nissen or OEM Volvo Radiator.

You definitely do NOT want to use heater core hose for ATF.

I mentioned the 'oil deteriorating a hose' thing to the autozone guy but didn't know anything about it. I will acquire all of these items hopefully all should be good:)

They were already looking sad after only a couple months.

Took those off. Bought 2 barbed couplers. Trans cooler hose. Now my only problem is slicing the metal sleeve from the OEM trans cooler hose so I can clamp my new hose to the metal.

People cut the sleeves with a Dremel or angle grinder all the time, for example see:

Perfect. And does it matter what kind of clamps I use?

I like Stainless steel closed band his clamps that don't cut into the rubber like the notched ones but if you double them up it wont matter what you use.
