2003 S40 1.9t Concerned about the PCV Oil Trap

Did you ever solve the PCV trap issue? I have a 2001 S40 1.9T with positive pressure (using the glove test) and yet the dealer is telling me that everything is fine.

No, I've been too afraid and too poor The hoses are my fear, that one of them will break trying to get things apart. And the kits that I have seen online are too expensive for me. I have been keeping an eye on the pressure, putting a rubber glove over the oil fill when I change the oil. So far no change from when I bought it.

I had an idea to drill a hole in the oil fill cap and put a nipple in it. Then run a hose over to the air cleaner box with another nipple to attach it. Not a perfect solution, but it should prevent the oil seals from blowing out due to excess pressure. Also the little o-ring that seals the oil dipstick has shrunk and any pressure should escape through there too.

Basically I'm in finger crossing mode for the foreseeable future

I think just lifting the dipstick a half inch will accomplish the same thing.

You may also look into purchasing the parts separately instead of a kit. I did that and saved a few bucks.
