1991 240 non-turbo broken exhaust safety question

Hi,

so, my exhaust system has essentially disconnected/fallen off about halfway down the line, due to rust.

see attached diagram for where the disconnect is.



here's my question..

is it safe to drive this car? I dont have the time nor the funds to get this car repaired for a few weeks.

I would love to give it ago it myself, but I dont have the tools : no jack stands wheel ramps wrenches etc.

(the best i can do is squeeze under the car and hope to remove part#12, which is just dangling there by an attached clamp.) before i do this I want to make sure I can ride this car out for a while.

here's my question..

240 Volvos will suck up air from the rear when the windows are down....this includes includes a well known monoxide called carbon monoxide (CO).

I lost my rear muffler on my 245 several years ago, and with existing pipe remaining, I re-directed flow to passenger rear side with another pipe or two I bought. And its hanging on hangers.

Two points

1. If fumes get into cabin, NO

2. If exhaust heat burns a hole in your carpet, NO

ebay use to have some good priced deals on complete systems from cat on back.

Putting a turn down pipe on can eliminate the heat aspect
