1992 240 Neutral Safety Switch

Post by volvointenn »

We recently purchased a 1992 24l0 Auto Trans. The guy we bought it from to told me the neutral safety switch (NSS) needed to be replaced. After we had driven it a couple day the engine kept stalling. It would then start right up. I replaced the NSS today, with the P & N marks lined up on both the switch and the shifter. When I turned the key the engine started but the stater sounded like it was still going. I moved the shift handle and this eventually stopped. I moved the NSS back and forth but still couldn't get things to even out. It was either not starting at all or the original problem resurfaced. Any ideas??

Please disregard this post. Previous owner connected a wire from one of the test connector on the firewall directly to the solenoid. Two separate issues, both solved!
