car sat for 6 years, made it run, but lifters are flat and clatter worse than a diesel. I want to pull the cam cover to remove and soak the lifters to see if they will pump up. Also I want to lube the journals and lobes. But I'm used to my 98 N/A.
How do I get the fence of turbo lines off the back of the head so I can remove the cam sensor?
I don't see an obvious bolt for the clip holding them in place, or a spot to push them aside.
Those of you who have gone before...thanks
98 T5 all those lines in the way

Current Volvos:
1998 V70 T5, 112k sat 5 years, still in mechanical coma (finally at the top of the pile )
2004 XC90 T6 AWD: 186k, 60 on transaxle ( traded in )
1998 POS70 N/A: DD/training aid, 236k but really about 240k, I think...ABS module( passed on to son who sold it)

I think you are making this harder than you need to. Just run the car and let them clack for a while, they will pump up on their own so long as you have oil pressure and it won't hurt anything.

I'm sure Lee is right, but just thought I'd chime in on the fence issue since I just had this problem. The fence on my 98 v70 awd was secured by the lower bolt for the cam sensor. It has a part tucked under the cam sensor and the bolt runs through the sensor, through the fence and into the engine.

Yeah, I'm sure you're right. guess I was getting over-paranoid to protect my over-engineered motor.
On the other hand, it will have a fresh timing belt, and I did discover that the FPR vacuum line was rusted completely closed where it snapped at the rubber connector to the plastic vacuum line!
It's going back together and I'll just let it idle a while.
Thanks
