car door diagram 1993 850 glt

Post by ancv »

Hi! 3 of my volvos car doors have decided to act up. Back passenger door won't open from outside but you can open it from the inside. On the passenger door something fell out when we took the panel off (after it opened up by itself on the drive home) and we aren't sure exactly what it is. Driver side passenger door won't stay open by itself.

Does anyone know if there is a diagram or really good picture of what the door should look like from the inside? My chiltons told me how to get the door panel off but I need behind the metal part of the door and I need to find out where all the pieces go.

I appericate all help and ideas in advance!!

God be with VA TECH and Families :(

Hey whats up. My thought on your problem would be to take off the door panels on a good working door and a bad door. as best you can compare the two. I haven't had my sons off yet but it may be a good place to start.
you indicated that something fell out. Its probably laying inside the door. Good luck

I currently have the interior panel off my front passenger-side door. I have the speaker out and I have fix up the outer windows track. Unfortunately, I have no plans to remove the metal plate and dig in any deeper. So, as I read your situation, a picture or three of what I have here will not help. Is that right?

Chances are the mechanism from your outside door handle has failed or is broken. It really isnt that hard to check it out once you remove the interior panel and since you have multiple issues take all the doors off for comparisons.
Driver side passenger door won't stay open by itself.
Usually when your drivers door is rolling all over the place specially because of the wind then chances are its your door check/stop. This is located between the hinges of the door..usually brass in colour. Open your drivers door and see if it opens up to 90 degrees.. or compare it to your passenger door and how it opens. You need to remove the interior panels for this too. The door check is held to the frame with one torx bolt...once you take this off you will be able to take off the two bolts holding it and then remove it (twist and turn.. its like one of those puzzles to get it out) and ispect it for breaks.

Happy Repairs... forever!

I too am having problems with rear doors not opening; my problem is they will not unlock. There are two screws in both front doors after the panel is removed but none on the rear. I would really hate to take a saws-all to get to the mechanism as parts for these are rare in my area.

I cannot find a exploded view diagram to disassemble the interior panel to get to the mechanism and since I cant get either door to open...........

I think you should be able to unbolt the door from the front of the car and gain access to the door panel tabs.

Will it give you enough flexibility to move it around to release the latch? I don't know.
