I did and it seemed to work fine. Be careful not to stress the downpipe though. The mounting flange at the turbo end of the downpipe is a very weak point in the exhaust system and I wound up cracking the pipe.

I don't think your going to be able to pull the engine alone without taking the trans with it, The trans only mounts by 2 very flexible points and depends on the engine to support the rest.
But I was able to pull and reinstall mine with the trans/turbo and the angle gear installed without much trouble at all. Really handy to have a load leveler to be able to change the angle of the engine on the fly.

I misread the original question. Putting it in with the transmission still in the car may be tricky with the turbo since the engine really needs to be about as far as it will go toward the right and in place vertically. I fear the downpipe will be in the way with the turbo bolted up.
Putting the engine and the transmission in together is actually easier since you can make it tail heavy and then get it lined up horizontally around the exhaust before you drop it on down vertically.

I'm going to try to pull the original motor and leave trans on car, I have turbo off of the one in the car but the replacement has the turbo still on and I hope I can sit it in with it on.Just wanted to see if anyone had done it this way so I would know for sure before I start. I have done R&R on many a vehicle over the years some by myself. I will learn something new this week I guess. Thank's Gerald

It's possible, if your car has an automatic transmission. But if it has an MT, you will not have enough space to separate engine from gearbox.dgcantrellsr wrote:I want to drop it in with trans still in car.
If my English is bad, please correct me

Well I answered my own question, You can R&R motor with turbo on motor and trans left in place. It's sorta tight but it can be done. And I did it by myself in my shop.

Thanks for giving us the answer!
Just curious, does your car have the angled flange on the downpipe or the straight flange? Mine had the "T" version of the turbo with the straight flange that has the exhaust coming straight out of the turbo horizontally.
