Since May 2014. Had to cut one of the smaller hose shorter, all other 3 hoses fit great.RussB wrote:tryingbe wrote:I had good luck with MOFE. That is quite cheap. How long have you been running them? Any fitment issues?

Ooooh, looks like there's an EVAP L hose there...I had good luck with MOFE. If you don't want the samco logo, you'll have to ask them not to put it on. You can only use 4 hoses out the set, the rest is useless. I think they also do custom color, you'll have to ask them.

The Volvo hoses definitely go out. I have a lot in my car that need to be replaced. I'm on number 3 right now that I just discovered, being the turbo coolant outlet hose.
I plan on getting silicone hoses eventually. I'm waiting for the rest to completely fail... if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

I have similar mileage: 230,000km, original hoses. No bulging signs, no plan to replace them until they show their age. If they blow, I have road side assistance, and will pull over. If you don't you may want to replace. Otherwise, my other cars showed signs of bulging when they got old.

No roadside assistance. A roll of duct tape in the car will fix just about anything.

Just like bmdubya says, some duct tape will patch you up enough to get you home. Weakened OEM hoses can also be strengthened with "racing tape" - applied correctly, that stuff's pretty hard core.mecheng wrote:I have similar mileage: 230,000km, original hoses. I did all the hoses on my 1999 at about 150k miles /12 years and they probably didn't need it. I actually gave away the pricey OEM heater hoses which were in great shape. I don't regret replacing the small turbo hoses and oil cooler hoses , volvo only of course, but as a whole I think the oEMs are really high quality .
I can't bring myself to put anything silicone on my car since a very bizarre show I once saw in Bankok.

Does anyone know what size clamps we're supposed to use with heater hoses and radiator hoses? (Different clamps should be used on silicone hoses and rubber hoses, right?) I read that if you really want your hoses to last, you should use constant tension clamps, like these Rotor Clips https://www.amazon.com/Rotor-Clip-CTB-16 ... B007Q4YEIC. But I can't for the life of me figure out how to get the right sizes! There are also these "smooth band worm gears" which seem "better" than regular worm-gears https://www.amazon.com/dp/B007Q4YE6O/ref=biss_dp_sa2 They come in so many sizes! (I know I can buy the hoses and then measure, and then order. But I was wondering if someone had gone through doing this?) Should I even bother? Are these constant tension clamps pointless? Would love to know what you all think!
I'm starting to lose that half a cup full of coolant a month... Time to tackle that heater core... Luckily Punxsutawney Phil is saying Spring is right around the corner!!!

I like closed band clamps in stainless steel Marco. You have to get them quite tight, but it's ok if they seep a bit, you just tighten them a bit more. Sometimes a couple of cycles will stop the seeping without tightening the clamp. ( a master plumber taught me this trick on plumbing....a drip on a fitting less than 10 per minute will self heal without over tightening Fitting)
