Front end Popping noise, 98 S70 GLT

I have a popping noise in the front end of our 98 S70 GLT...the shop has assured us that the entire front suspension is very safe to drive and they cannot find anything wrong. CV joints are fine, drive shafts aren't broken, bearings are fine, etc....
Are there other frame mounts, etc... that could be causing this noise?

I need other advice.....

If it happens under aceleration or deceleartion it could be a broken motor mount. Check the top motor mount and the mount under the crank pully these are the one that most commonly fail.

Otherwise could be a bad strut which will pop when it bottoms out on the bump stop, bad spring seat, bad sway bar endlink.

When exactly does the noise happen?

It normally happens when we are pulling into or out of a parking place, backing out of our garage, just turning into our driveway, and just driving and turning a corner at at stop light.
Plus it is not centrally located...at times it seems to be coming from the right and/or left front side.
Could it be the rack/pinion? Just a thought.

Could be the steering rack, they are known to wear out. Never replaced one myself but I think it would be a tad difficult to get out. Groton has them for $250 plus core if I'm not mistaken
