CBV rebuild kits

96 850t I assume 13g turbo but I think the kits are the same for a number of these. Any preferences, one kit to another, for replacement? I am going to be in there doing a bunch of stuff, 200k miles at least on this car so I thought I'd just do this as well. Or should I just disassemble and put back together if no torn diaphragm, etc. Thanks.

If the CBV diaphragm is original I would replace it. Every one I have pulled that is 15 years old or more, had a hole. If your car's doesn't, it will soon. You want to make sure to get the Mitsubishi or Kunagawa diaphragm.

Oh it is a 15g on a 96.

Thanks, it is original, and I will replace with Kunagawa most likely, as it is easier to find than Mitsubishi? Car was my mothers, who probably never hard the car under much boost...or so she led me to believe.

... also the IPD unit is known to be good, forgot about that one, theirs is an HD one.

I looked back at my old posts, I am wrong about recommending the Kinugawa CBV. Some people have had problems with it, and I would only recommend the genuine Mitsubishi part. Alas I do not know the part number.

I replaced the CBV diaphram, also a 15g, with the IDP CBV unit last fall. The IDP kit came with several springs to choose from. I found the Mitsubishi part online after I had already ordered from IDP, can't remember where, but I think it was a few $$ cheaper than from IDP. I think the IDP was more $$ because of the extra springs.

Thanks a lot for the Mitsubishi part link. I'll call them and confirm genuine Mitsubishi. Unfortunately IPD HD CBV parts are NA at this time, and I need something quickly, so this will be it. 60+ bucks for a couple of rubber parts and spring seems like a lot but I don't have much option unless someone can suggest something. Thanks again.

ARD is pretty reliable, but I just do not know about this CBV diaphragm; it's a lot cheaper.
