98 xc rear suspension bushing

Post by div4scpro »

volvo part #9157316, rear suspension bushing, #37 in most diagrams does not appear to be available from any dealer sources. Does anyone know of a source for this part, any aftermarket options, or two for sale from a private source? I know this is not a WTB in the classifieds but this is the best option I know of to get the most eyes on it.

Thanks

Unfortunately you are going to have to try any online retailer listing it. Chances are most have just not listed it as un-available. Many of the rear end parts for the P80 AWD parts are now un-available as I found out, or are on a huge backlog order with Volvo classic.

I checked on GCP.se which is the company Volvo sold all it's old car parts to, and it is shown as obsolete there.

Many of the other bushes are available and can be often found on the front end of some of the older RWD Volvos (240/740/760/940), and some are available as poly-bushes from other companies for those vehicles. There was a good write up on one of the other Volvo web-sites of alternates for many of the other bushes. Unfortunately this is not one.

Good luck and post back if you find any available (or PM me to give me first shout after you!!).

My guess is you simply found one of the few online retailers whose catalog is out of date. But why guess, a call to Jim Ellis Volvo would be informative.

Well that's a PITA. Does that happen often?

Yes! There are a lot of dealers in US that advertise on line and they don't update their web-pages until you ask for a part and they then check to find it is not available. I had a nightmare of a time when re-building the rear suspension on my 2000 'R'. Most dealers don't actually have the parts in stock and it is only when they place the order with the warehouses they find they are not available. Very few dealers still keep any stock of parts for older cars or even new ones as Volvo can supply them typically in 24hrs of it being ordered. You may sometimes get lucky and find a dealer who actually has the part, but 99% of the time if one dealer shows the part as obsolete, it is for all dealers.

It still makes sense to phone and ask.
