98 v70 zimmermann rotors

Post by 98v70dad »

Looking at buying zimmermann rotors (front and back) for my 98 v70. I want the coat Z ones. I found some zimmermanns for about $50 each online from a popular place but they dont say if the zimmermans are coated or not. Are all the zimmermanns finished in Z coat or are some uncoated?

I was on hold forever with the parts place and finally gave up.

I can only say I have had a set of fronts and a set of rears and both were coated. The rears were also warped and had to be machined. Ba luck I guess. They were great after that though.

Have you checked on Zimmerman website or find if they have a distributor that supplies locally and if the can help.

I had a look on-line to see who was offering Zimmerman rotors. Depending on the rotor diameter (280 or 302mm) seemed to show a difference on whether the picture showed coated or not. FCP does a FWD 280mm kit with fronts and rears both pictured as 'Z' coated. All the 302mm rotors don't look coated.

On Zimmerman website they make a great deal of this coating but say it is widening the products it is making this available with.

Yes, I did look on the Zimmermann website before posting and didn't find any useful information. FCP has a video that says the cheaper zimmermanns aren't coated but if they are widening the products supplied with the coating the video may no longer be accurate.

I didn't mention the place where I found such a good deal because it competes with some of the sponsors of this site. The information provided there is minimal at best. I'm not absolutely stuck on buying the zimmermann brand but they seem like a quality item and the sale price of $50 each is exactly the maximum I set for rotor budget. I had previously decided to buy meyle rotors at about $35 each when I found the zimmermanns on sale. There is nobody who carries them locally that I know of. I looked around about 6 months ago and found many places that could get them but none that stocked them. I don't like rusty rotors. I live in the South and bought uncoated rotors for my Honda Odyssey thinking they would be OK. They rusted in less than a week and it showed through the wheel....didn't look good. So, I don't want to repeat that.

Napa used to carry them (3 years ago) and I'm not sure they still do but I bet you the price on them is nowhere near the ones you found!

I guess that unfortunately you will either need to speak to Zimmerman directly to get the relevant info or the supplier to open the box and check. Perhaps the box may say if they are 'Z' coated on it.

Hi,

You can also buy them from Rockauto. They are branded as Beck Arnley but it's the real deal, Z coated and even in a Zimmerman box. I just got them for my XC.
