2003 S60 Accelerator Slow/No reponse

Post by JimmySmith04 »

My 2003 S60 accelerator is starting to loose its response. This happened about 6 months ago and mechanic replaced throttle assembly with a used one. Issue went away and now it starting to come back.
This issue seems to start slowly and then gets worse of time...I can floor the pedal and nothing happens...let up a little and it will start to move up to speed fine.
Also, my 10A AC fuse always blows when AC is turned on. I did read that this is the same fuse as the accelerator and was wondering if this could be related.

Any help or ideas on this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Jim

Absolutely.

What would cause this fuse to instantly blow when the AC is turned on?

AC clutch. Seems it somewhere is shorted inside.

Just switch AC off and put fuse back.

The a/c clutch has a magneto with a single wire to it,, maybe it's that wire that has a short somewhere

...and don't use defrost, which will turn AC on.

You could unplug the AC clutch and see if it's the clutch seized up or the wire shorting. I'll take the long odds on the clutch being seized up.
