Should I use Sil-Glyde or the tiny tiny moly pack that comes with akebono ceramic pads? Or does it really matter?

I'd rather use sil-glyde because I have plenty of it. Last time I put akebono pads on a car the grease took way too much effort to portion out and the end result really wasn't adequately covered in my opinion. For such an expensive pad I think they should be more generous with the moly grease supplied.

The akebono info says using anything other than what they supply voids the warranty but I say so what? I've never had to return a brake pad and my friends who have tried tell me that there's always a reason that they aren't covered.

I have installed a couple sets of Akebono ceramic pads on the front of our '97 855 GLT and I used ATE Plastilube in the 75ml tube available from FCP and others. It works great. No squeaks or squeals for the past 8 years.

Thanks. I'll be installing them in a few hours and sil-glyde is what I have. Its a silicon based brake grease for brakes. I have no concern about using it. I just wonder why akebono supplies moly based grease and indicates that you MUST use it for warranty coverage.

I use anti-seize copper grease. It also works well and does not tend to wash off.

Thanks folks. Pads went on the car at 9:30 this morning using the sil-glyde. I expect that it will be fine.
