760 Strut Bearing Diagrams?

Post by Bluevanacd2005 »

Does anyone have a good diagram of the 760 strut bearing assembly? I need to verify all the washers/spacers are in the right spot. I had a shop put new struts and bearings on, and now there is a massive clunk in the front end if you hit large bumps.

Thanks,

Spenser

Just scroll down the page to diagram of front strut parts. 740 is the same as 760 for front strut parts.

Ok thanks, that is actually what I kept getting when I was googling. I just wasn't sure it was right. It seems like when weight is taken off the struts causes some type of shifting and a clunk. If I remove the plastic cap on top, I can see the end of the strut rod, the nut, and a small washer under it. I didn't know if there was supposed to be a larger washer to keep the strut up when it's unloaded. Doesn't seem like it. Maybe the nuts are loose? The entire rod spins when I put a socket on it.

There was a $30.00 tool kit to do this on Amazon, but I can't find it now.

Here is a high dollar tool that will work. OTC 7544 24mm Strut Rod Nut Socket

As stated, "Great tool to remove those 24mm strut nuts in strut mounts with no space for a box end wrench.
The socket's outside 1/2 inch drive flange works with a 1/2 drive breaker bar, torque wrench or long ratchet while the opening in the center of the socket allows the use of a 10mm socket with another ratchet to hold the strut rod in place while removing / tightening the outer 24mm nut."

Read the instructions on how to do this...

"Were the strut mounts replaced?"

I don't think so.

Thank you for the tip on the tool
