I plug the washer line when I remove the wipers.

New? They've been making these since '85!

Actually, mine has headlight wipers too...and they're broken. Surprise surprise.

Biggest issue with these is the overload resistor failing with time. If we could find a source of those square thick film (or whatever they are called) resistors then fixing them would be fairly easy. After so many years they need a service like most other parts of any car using grease, and a fresh amount of grease, new resistor and off they go again. Most of us would only have to do the job once in the cars' lifetime (or is that our lifetime?). I use the copper wire replacement, but need to look again at the in-line fuse to prevent blowing the main fuse which takes the main wipers out and some other stuff.

If you don't need them as the headlights don't get too bad when driving year around I wouldn't bother. Here in winter they are handy to have in snow and dirty roads we get, but even I have doubts on their use.

Thanks everyone, sounds like a pretty unanimous chorus of "don't bother"

Wisdom requires knowledge as a prerequisite, but knowledge can be developed due to a lack of wisdom.
In order to learn how to fix something, you must first learn how to break it.
